April has been involved in early learning advocacy in various capacities since 2008. She has been a parent advocate and coordinator for the Washington State Association of Head Start and ECEAP Parent Ambassadors, an Early Learning Community Organizer at the League of Education Voters, has worked for the state Department of Early Learning in the Head Start Collaboration Office, and is a former Head Start and ECEAP Parent. She has also worked in a licensed child care facility in a preschool classroom.
April became passionate about access to early learning for all Washington kids when she saw the difference it made in her own family and her children being ready for kindergarten. She and her husband are raising six children.
