Update: Local kids give $1,000 to the Children's Alliance

The Children's Alliance is humbled and amazed by a recent gift. Kids at Thorndyke Elementary School in Tukwila raised funds through the Common Cents Penny Harvest educational program. Then they chose to give the Children's Alliance a generous $1,000 grant.

Penny Harvest is an educational program for kids age 4 to 18 who turn their compassion into action by collecting pennies and turning those pennies into grants for community organizations.

A great big thanks goes to the kids at Thorndyke and the adults who supported this extraordinary effort. Your gift brings us a little closer to the day when all Washington's children will have what they need to grow up to be the people they dream of becoming.

Way to go! One penny at a time
