What is essential for kids and families? Meals and health care

When parents lose their jobs, children can become victims. They see their parents' stress. They can start to feel guilty. They don't understand why Dad is angry or why Mom cries. They sometimes go without meals, or don't have access to medical care that is needed. This is WRONG for all our families. Don't cut programs that help these young victims. They are not to blame for the economy or for budget cuts.

What is essential for kids and families? Children's health care

What is essential for kids & families?

Children's health care has been the most vital service for my family. Our son is Autistic. Although my husband works six days a week, it's not enough to cover the cost of our son's medication--yet alone his speech, occupational, physical, and mental health therapy. However, our son is thriving-- due to the assistance we receive through his medical coupon. Someday, he will be a contributing member of society, and a Washington state voter!

What is essential for kids & families?

Equitable, accessible and ethical health care is an essential safeguard of human life. Anyone engaged in the daily care of a child with special heath care needs is well aware of the strains of inadequate health insurance coverage places on families.

Tony and Grace - Kent

Five-year-old Tony Johnson never had health coverage. His mother, Paula, managed to get him and his four older siblings all their immunizations thanks to mobile vans offering free shots, but the Kent family couldn’t afford well-child visits or dental check-ups for the children.
