REGISTER FOR THE NANCY AMIDEI ADVOCACY CAMP

Join Children’s Alliance and Families of Color Seattle on Saturday, August 2nd to become a stronger advocate for children at Nancy Amidei Advocacy Camp! 

This one-day training is designed to inspire, educate, connect and empower child advocates by sharing the knowledge and tools needed to drive policy change in Washington state.  

At Advocacy Camp, participants will engage in interactive learning sessions to build and strengthen skills to engage in policy advocacy. Whether you are new to advocacy or have years of experience, this training will equip you with the resources, strategies, and confidence you need to create change in your community.  

Where: Jane Thompson Russell Student Commons at 1918 Pacific Ave, Tacoma, WA 98402 (Located in William W. Philip Hall at the University of Washington Tacoma) 

When: Saturday, August 2nd, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.  

Training topics:  

  • Policy Advocacy through a Racial Equity Lens – Build a foundational understanding of racial equity concepts, learn how to analyze policy through a racial equity lens and reflect on how your values impact your advocacy journey. 

  • Washington Government 101 – Learn how our state’s government operates, how a bill becomes law, and how to pinpoint and capitalize on key opportunities for advocacy throughout the legislative session.  

  • Developing Your Key Message + Lobbying 101 – Learn how to create, adapt and deliver persuasive and impactful messages for issues you care about. 

  • Building the Movement – Learn how to bring people together and harness collective power, and practice identifying a vision to drive meaningful change in your community. 

There is no cost to register or attend this training, and lunch and snacks are provided.  

ASL and Spanish interpretation services are available upon request.  

Limited child care stipends and travel reimbursements are also available upon request.  

Parking information: Jane Russell Commons at UW Tacoma does not have dedicated parking. Registrants should park at the Tacoma Dome Station for free all-day parking and take the light rail to campus.
